H1N1 Precautions
Hi all, please note we have been asked to pass along the following precautions as it pertains to the H1N1 Virus. As YC2009 is a provincial event and H1N1 has a potential to spread quickly via large gatherings, let's all do our part to ensure the risks are minimized.
Regards,
YC Newfoundland & Labrador

Persons who attended YC2009 in Gander on the Thanksgiving Weekend who develop Influenza Like Illness (ILI), who meet the definition: Acute onset of respiratory illness with fever and cough and with one or more of the following - sore throat, joint and muscle pain, or extreme fatigue which could be due to influenza virus. In children under 5, gastrointestinal symptoms may also be present. In patients under 5 or 65 and older, fever may not be prominent.
If you fit this definition, self–isolate at home until tested. If any of the tests come back positive, those individuals should consider themselves to have influenza, and should stay away from others for 7 days after the first symptoms appear - in accordance with the Home Isolation guidance document listed below. Points to remember: Most attendees will not need to see a doctor, unless they have chronic illnesses requiring ongoing medical management – in which case you should call (before visiting) your doctor for guidance. The vast majority of people who fit this definition will not need to have a swab taken for diagnoses.

When we began the process to select the 2008 YC Talent Search winner our hearts were not interested in finding just another “Canadian Idol” but a passionate worshipper whose primary goal was humble obedience to God’s call and a bold declaration of the glory of God. We found that artist in Gary French. The BIG LAND of Labrador has produced a BIG VOICE for a BIG GOD!
Check out Gary’s brand new web site www.garyfrenchmusic.com, which will allow you to listen and download some of the amazing tracks from his new album Beautiful Grace. Keep checking back as he’ll be posting new tunes leading up to YC2009.
Be blessed as you listen and live in the truth that “all things are possible with and for God!”

Hello from Matt Maher

Roosevelt Hunter Slipped Into Eternity
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that our good friend and YC speaker (‘04, ’06, ’09), Roosevelt Hunter, passed away on August 10, 2009 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
This generation has lost a great voice and he will surely be missed. Just a year ago we were with Roosevelt in Malawi where we not only got to really know him well but where we saw God use him to speak powerfully at YC Malawi where hundreds came to know Christ.
Please keep his wife Eileen, his children (Trinity Joy and Israel David), and their family in prayer. We will be searching for another keynote speaker for October and we appreciate your prayers as we finalize our planning.
For this generation. Dean Brenton

BEYOND
BEYOND - “outside the understanding, limits, or reach of; past: beyond comprehension.” In Exodus 2, Jochebed, the mother of Moses, faced what seemed to be a situation without hope. Pharaoh’s decree demanded that her baby boy be killed. With her faith in God, she put her baby in a basket and placed him in the river. Little did she know what lay beyond. God had a specific plan and purpose for that little boy’s life. He was made for more. God placed him in Pharaoh’s own household – from there he would go beyond to help deliver the Israelites from the bondage of slavery. A situation that seemed outside human understanding was the gateway to a divine miracle.
God still works like that today! From YC’s humble beginnings at the Mt. Pearl Glacier to the Gander Community Centre this year, we have seen our great God raise up a generation of young people that have been willing to go beyond.
- BEYOND the norm in their relationship with him. - BEYOND the boundaries of what seems “safe” - BEYOND in what they can give financially
YC2009: BEYOND is an event designed for you to reflect and celebrate what God has done in the past and anticipate what He is going to do in your life in the future. YC has always been about what happens after the event. When the lights come down and the buses return home, what are you going to do with what you’ve experienced this weekend? Resolve in your heart that you will be like Moses and allow God to use you in ways outside of human understanding.
The Leaders Guide, located under Media, contains all the important information about this weekend. The YC2009 staff and volunteers are here to serve you and to ensure you have a great weekend. We’ve prayed, we’ve planned, and we’ve come to Gander to dream beyond – you are made for more!!!

Welcome to YC2009
Here we go again! We can hardly believe that this is our 10th YC! On October 9-11 we are returning to the Gander Community Centre for YC2009.
It seems like only yesterday we were gathered at the Glacier in Mount Pearl for the very first YC in 2000. In the past ten years we have seen God’s faithfulness and His greatness over and over again. We will be celebrating our ten year anniversary in a number of ways, with old friends, new friends, an incredible lineup of speakers and artists, and a full schedule with something for everybody.
We are excited to be returning to central Newfoundland and are anticipating a capacity crowd so register early and don’t miss what is shaping up to be one of the most significant weekends of 2009! If this is your first YC then WELCOME! We know God has something great in store for you this weekend!
If you were a part of the early years of YC but have missed some of our more recent events come out and see what God has been and is doing. You haven’t outgrown your invitation to YC!
If you’ve been one of the YC fans that never missed a year we can’t wait to reconnect with you again!
YC will be bigger and better than ever! We really do hope to see you all in October as we together “Celebrate a Decade of Difference!”
